FAQ / Clear rules, better attempts

What the minute does and does not include

Does the minute include gathering materials?

No. Gathering materials and the explicitly listed preparation happen before the timer. The timed attempt includes only the steps labelled as the challenge. Preparing holes, cutting maze walls or arranging supports should never be disguised as part of a finished one-minute build.

Are these guaranteed to work in 60 seconds?

No. The minute is an attempt window, not a completion guarantee. Materials, dexterity and practice affect the result. Finish more slowly if necessary, and describe the attempt accurately rather than rushing tools or hiding unfinished steps.

Can children try the challenges?

Suitability depends on the child and materials. A responsible adult should assess the activity, prepare sharp-tool steps and supervise as needed. Small parts, scissors and lengths of string need particular care. No challenge is worth a rushed or unsafe action.

What if I do not have the exact materials?

Use safe substitutes that serve the same purpose, then record the change. Do not assume different paper, tape, cups or string will perform identically. Avoid heavier loads, sharp-edged containers or stronger tools simply to make a substitution work.

Can I stop or restart the timer?

Yes. Stop working whenever you need to. Reset returns the display to 60 seconds; Start begins a fresh attempt. The timer uses elapsed clock time, but browser suspension can delay screen updates. It is a casual prompt, not certified competition equipment.

Will the solution open when time runs out?

No. Solution disclosures are independent of the timer. Open them only when you want the explanation. You can also read a solution first and treat the minute as a construction exercise instead of a prediction puzzle.

What should I do after a failed attempt?

Inspect what happened and change one variable. A failed attempt is useful evidence, not a reason to hide the result. A sliding bridge, blocked maze and snagged cutting line suggest different adjustments. Start with the simplest explanation you can test safely.

Can I share my attempt online?

Share your own recording, disclose preparation and edits, and get permission from anyone identifiable. Link to the guide rather than republishing it in full. Do not present conceptual illustrations as photographs of your result or imply that practice footage was a first attempt.

Do I need an account or an app?

No account, installation or payment is required. JavaScript powers the timer, mobile menu and contact text tools; guide text remains readable without it. The site does not require camera, microphone or location access.

Does the contact form send my message?

No. It prepares plain text in your browser. Copy or download it, then send it yourself through your email service. The form does not upload entries, and changing a field clears the generated version so you do not accidentally copy outdated details.

Ready beats rushed.

Start with a folded bridge, a clear table and a question you can answer in one attempt.
